can we install this in the fireplace area?
Yes! Our White Marble Large Penny Round Tiles can be installed on the fireplace surround (facing out around the opening for the gas insert or area for wood - only firebrick or similar materials should be used directly surrounding the flame). You can install these penny tile mosaic sheets on the outer fireplace facing for a beautiful white marble touch in your living room!
What is the size of each penny tile?
The size of each penny tile is 1" or 25mm.
Are these sealed and if not how can them be sealed to protect against staining?
These penny tiles are not sealed but there are specially formulated sealants that are excellent for natural marble. We recommend Miracle Sealants Porous Plus, which penetrates inherent pores in the stone to create a protective barrier without altering the beauty of the marble. It can also be applied to grout lines.
Regularly check your tiles to see if they are ready for a reapplication - you can do this by dropping water on the tiles and seeing if they bead on the surface or sink in. If they sink in to the stone or grout, it's time to reapply!
I know colors will vary, but do these tiles lean more toward the whites or beiges?
They're a pretty significant mix of white/gray/beige. Its made of Eastern White marble which has a high level of variation. The installation photos are a pretty accurate representation of the mix of colors that will inherently be found in these sheets.
