How is this installed? Can it be used as a fireplace hearth or does it have the non heat-resistant backing?
This marble basket weave tile should be installed with a traditional mortar and grouted in place. They can absolutely be installed as a fireplace surround on the outer facing of your fireplace! You can see examples of how our tiles have been used in our fireplace design lookbook.
While marble is a heat-resistant material, only firebrick or other flame-retardant materials should be installed within the fireplace directly adjacent to the gas burner or burning logs.
